We visited Newark in March and after doing some sightseeing and shopping we found ourselves at the Danube for a wonderful lunchtime revelation. The cook/owner/hostess Ramona enhances this experience by her natural friendliness and knowledge of her art. The restaurant was newly opened when we visited and we hope this restaurant is a great success especially as we hope to be enjoying many more lunches there in the future. In fact we are already booked for another Saturday lunch in May.
The choice of food was great, from soup and sandwiches to two or three course lunches. On our last visit I opted for two courses but next time I can't wait to experience all three courses.
The food, friendly staff, choices of wine and overall ambiance made our visit our visit to Newark a great day out. We would wholeheartedly recommend the Danube for lunches or evening meals. It is on Castlegate, just opposite the castle; don’t miss out on this little treasure.
